FCA Summer Collegiate Baseball,
"My son still thinks highly of his summer with the FCA Grays and references many of the spiritual lessons you taught him, as well as having his framed Grays Jersey hanging from his bedroom wall. I think that was a "turning point" for Kenny in many, many ways, Joe. First, he got a lot of his spiritual issues together that you guys talked about during that time. Secondly, by playing in the MINK league, he knew he could compete and got his confidence back. When his new college coach told him last May he would almost certainly cut him as a senior because he wanted only his own players that he had recruited, he knew he could go on and compete and did so in the pros. A year later, Kenny has the championship ring and a pro contract. I'm not sure if he would have had the confidence to deal with that sort of adversity if he had not played for the Grays. As I look back as a father, I feel it was one of the best summers a father could ask for his son, and just wanted to let you know what has become of your investment in his life and athletic career since then. Who knows how long this pro thing will last? But one thing is for sure, Kenny is enjoying himself and loving his life. I believe the FCA Grays experience helped him put his stuff in order and assisted in pursuing his hopes and dreams. And now, you have another Gray in the Pros this summer." - Gary Salyer, father of Kenny Salyer (FCA Grays LHP - 2006).
Dear FCA Summer Collegiate Baseball,
"Thank you so much for the opportunity you provided for Chris last summer to play baseball with the FCA Grays. The entire experience was one of the best he has had yet. We see such an amazing growth in him mentally, physically, and most importantly, spiritually. The host family he lived with truly made him a part of their home. As parents, we felt so peaceful about the entire summer. We just want to say that we are so appreciative of everything all of you did for him and the rest of the guys. My prayer during the entire process was for Chris to find a clearer sense of direction in his walk with God and for him to find at least one Godly man to pour into his life this summer. Wow! God really answered those prayers and more! Chris returned home with a true burden of responsibility and leadership for his baseball team at college. Before this summer, he always prayed, studied, and served but it seemed like out of sense of duty to us and the church. He came back from the summer with a purpose and a sense of ownership in his walk with God. He has always been a good son and rather easy for us to raise and be proud of, but I truly saw Chris come back as a man of God rather than a kid. He is different and I don't know if he realizes how different he is now. Thanks to you and to God! All he really says is that he can't wait to come back in 2008. He also talks of you coaches and the guys "up North". I love FCA Summer Collegiate Baseball and everything it stands for and for the role models to these young men. God bless you and keep working hard for His Kingdom...you are making a huge difference." - Joy Lucius (mother of Chris Lucius, FCA Grays 2007 and 2008) |
