April 10: The Power of God

Scripture Lesson: Psalm 147:11-20

On this date in 1982, a crowd of 62,433 fans showed up despite a game time temperature of 38 degrees with a wind chill of 17 degrees to see the Indians drop their season opener to the Rangers 8-3. Five hundred tons of snow had to be removed from the Municipal Stadium field prior to the game. That must have been one cold day to watch a baseball game.

In our Scripture lesson today, the Psalmist says that God is to be praised for His creation and the control of creation. Not only that, God delights in those who put their hope in His unfailing love. Isn’t it amazing when we stop to think about God’s creation? When you go outside today, just look around and soak it in with all your senses. God has created the world and its splendor for us to enjoy and take care of for Him. When we put our hope in His unfailing love, we bring a smile to His face much like His creation brings a smile to ours.

  1. How do we show God that we have our faith in His unfailing love?

  2. Why do we often take the beauty of creation for granted?

  3. How do we bring a smile to His face?

If our hope is in God’s love for us we will then be less likely to take all He does for us for granted including His creation.
