April 25-Saves and Rescues
April 25: Saves and Rescues
Scripture Lesson: Daniel 6:1-24
On this date in 1976, one of the greatest saves in baseball history
occurred, but not on the mound. Cubs outfielder Rick Monday rescued an American
flag that was about to be set on fire by two trespassers in the outfield at
Dodger Stadium. One month later, in a gesture of patriotic thanks, Dodger
executive Al Campanis presented the same flag to Monday.
Today’s Scripture lesson describes one of the greatest saves in biblical
history. The story of Daniel and the lions’ den is one of heroic faith that is
able to stand against the most powerful man in the world, and of a loving God
who took care of Daniel in the face of almost certain death. As you read these
verses today, take note of the great faith of Daniel and the watchful care of
God. God’s faith in us and our faith in Him enables us to stand up against
whatever the world can hurl at us.
-
How was
Daniel’s faith lived out?
-
How can
we live out our faith to mirror Daniel?
-
How can
we stand up for God in the baseball culture?
It is reassuring to know that God is there for us when we are there
for Him!
