Scripture Lesson: Psalm 32:7
On this date in 1878, after designing a device for his own protection in 1876, Harvard catcher, Frederick Thayer patents the catcher’s mask. The Ivy League Captain, who will never play in a major league game, uses an oblong wire frame that supports a series of strategically placed pads made from animal skins.
David shows us in today’s Scripture passage that God is our hiding place and that He will protect us from trouble. That was very important for David, because at this time King Saul was hunting him down trying to kill David. David’s tremendous popularity in Israel had made Saul jealous to the point of wanting David dead. David recognized that God would protect him, keep him safe, and deliver him from Saul. All of which came true! We can always rely upon God to be there for us in times of trouble. He will provide the same care and deliverance He gave to David. Struggles will come in our lives, but the one constant we can always rely upon is our Loving Heavenly Father!
1. Describe a time when God protected you.
2. How can we be assured of God’s presence in times of trouble?
3. Why does God do this for us?
God will always be there for us in times of trouble, He is only a prayer away!
