February 21-Rules
Scripture Lesson: 1 John 1:8-9
Rollie Fingers retires on this date in 1986. The Reds manager Pete Rose had offered Fingers a contract after his release by the Milwaukee Brewers. In defiance of the Reds policy to forbid facial hair, Fingers retired rather than shave off his trademark handlebar moustache. The future Hall of Fame reliever ended his career with 341 saves.
Today’s Scripture are very familiar words found in 1 John. Sometimes in life we fool ourselves into believing that we have not broken any of God’s rules or sinned. We want to neglect our short comings. The truth is we have all broken the rules and sinned. The good news is that if we confess our sins, God is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. When we mess up and we will, God is waiting on our confession to forgive us. When God forgives a sin it is as if that sin never existed. God not only forgives when we confess our sins, He forgets!
1. Why is it easier to see other’s sins than our own sins?
2. Are there any sins we need to clean out and confess today?
3. Thank God for forgiving and forgetting.
Isn’t it time to quit fooling ourselves and clean out any unconfessed sin in our lives?
