July 30: Age Is Just a Number

Scripture Lesson: Genesis 21:1-5

On this date in 1960, Yankee manager Casey Stengel celebrated his 70th birthday and quipped, “Most people my age are dead at the present time.” The “Old Professor” and Connie Mack were the only major league managers still managing at age 70 until Jack McKeown of the Marlins joined the club.

Today’s Scripture lesson is about the birth of Isaac. God had promised to Abraham and Sarah a son. When Isaac was born, both Abraham and Sarah were well beyond child bearing years, but God blessed them in their old age with a son. Age is just a number: God can and will accomplish great things through each of us, no matter what our age may be. All we have to do is be obedient and seek Him with our whole hearts. God has great plans for us, no matter what our age. He is waiting for us to seek Him, love Him, and live for Him. When we do that, Watch out! Great things are coming for His Kingdom and for us!

  1. What can God accomplish through you?

  2. Why does God want to accomplish great things through us?

  3. What must we do to have God show us His plans for our life?

God is waiting for us to give ourselves completely to Him to do great things through us, no matter what our age may be.
