June 15: Trades

Scripture Lesson: Matthew 27:1-5

On this date in 1964 one of the most lopsided trades in baseball history occurred when the Cubs traded outfielder Lou Brock to the Cardinals for pitcher Ernie Brogilo. Brock went on to have a Hall of Fame career with 3,023 hits, and he held the career stolen base record until Rickie Henderson surpassed him. In the meantime, Brogilo went 7-19 in two-and-a-half seasons with the Cubs before injuries ended his career.

Our Scripture lesson today involves one of the most lopsided trades in biblical history, as Judas traded information about Jesus’ whereabouts for 30 pieces of silver. Judas betrayed Jesus to the Jewish leaders, but when Jesus was condemned to die, he regretted it and tried to return the money. Judas was so distraught that he threw the money on the floor of the temple, then went out and hung himself.

  1. Why was the Judas trade the most lopsided in biblical history?

  2. What do you think Judas was feeling when he returned the money?

  3. Why do you think Judas betrayed Jesus?

Trading Brock did not turn out well for the Cubs. Judas trading Jesus for 30 pieces of silver let to regret and suicide. We must be careful to realize nothing should be more important to us than Jesus.

You really make it appear so easy with your presentation however I
find this matter to be actually something that I believe I might never understand.
It sort of feels too complex and very vast for me.

I am looking forward to your subsequent publish, I will try to get
the hold of it!

I was wondering if you ever considered changing the layout
of your website? Its very well written; I love what youve got to say.
But maybe you could a little more in the way of content so people could connect with it
better. Youve got an awful lot of text for only having one
or 2 images. Maybe you could space it out better?
