June 2-Goals
June 2: Goals
Scripture Lesson: 1 Peter 1:8-9
On this date in 1987, using the first overall pick in the draft,
the Seattle Mariners drafted Ken Griffey, Jr. The signing of Junior, the son of
Major League player Ken Griffey, would play a major role in Seattle’s success
in the mid 1990’s. Any club, when drafting a “number one” player, hopes he will
become an impact player at the big league level. With Griffey, Jr., the
Mariners succeeded.
Peter writes about the goal of our faith in today’s Scripture
lesson. Even though we have never seen Jesus, we love Him and believe in Him. Our
faith in Him enables us to be filled with a joy that is so wonderful it cannot
be explained. The goal of each of our faith is the salvation of our souls. I
like that, we live lives of joy because we believe and our faith in Jesus as
Lord and Savior enables us to reach the goal of spending eternity with Him in
heaven. That is a goal worth reaching and pursuing each day through living for
Jesus in everything we do!
-
What
goals do you have in the game? How will you reach those goals?
-
What are
the characteristics of a life of faith?
-
How do
we live lives of joy living for Jesus each day?
Our goal each day should be to live for Christ by living like
Christ. There can be no greater joy in this world than to do that each day!
