June 24-Pure Joy
June 24: Pure Joy
Scripture Lesson: 3 John 3-4
On this date in 2011, Michael Kacer, a 29-year-old veteran who lost an arm during a rocket attack in Afghanistan, made an amazing catch of a Curtis Granderson foul ball at Yankee Stadium. The event attracted national attention when the video went viral on the web, and ESPN included the catch in its top play segment on Sports Center. The look on Kacer’s face after the catch was pure joy.
John wrote of the great joy he experienced in hearing that believers were walking in the truth. To walk in the truth is to live a Christ-like life. Walking in the truth involves loving like Jesus and living like Jesus. I can even imagine the angels in heaven high-fiving each other when we live like Jesus. Pure joy comes to believers when we realize that we have done something for the Kingdom of God. There should be no greater feeling in the world than accomplishing something for the one who gave His all for us.
How can you walk in the truth today?
How excited do you get when you accomplish something for Jesus?
Describe the last time you felt pure joy.
The joy in our heart should be evident to everyone we meet.
