June 25: Mistakes

Scripture Lesson: Romans 6:8-10

On this date in 1898, Jumbo Davis made five errors in the course of a 10-3 loss for his team. The Kansas City Cowboys (AA) third baseman would make 100 errors in 628 chances that season, flubbing almost one in every six attempts.

Jesus came to our world to take care of all our sins and mistakes. It was our sin that cost Jesus His life. He paid the price once and for all time for our sins and mistakes. We believe that Jesus lives today, that the tomb is still empty. As we believe in Him, we are called to live with Him. Someday, because Jesus paid the price for our sins, we will live with Him in heaven.

  1. Have you ever made an error that cost your team a victory? How did you feel?

  2. What was the last sin you committed? How did it make you feel?

  3. How does it make you feel as a believer to know that Jesus paid the price for your sins and mistakes?

Hard work can overcome errors on the baseball diamond. It is hard work to live for Christ each day. Let us all put in the practice time we need, both on and off the diamond.
