March 17: Laughter

Scripture Lesson: Psalm 126:1-3

On this date in 1986, during a Cactus League game, Carney Landsford of the Oakland A’s was credited with an unusual two-run inside-the-park home run in a 5-3 victory over the Indians. The Oakland infielder was able to circle the bases because Indians outfielder Mel Hall got his shirt caught on the outfield fence and was unable to untangle himself as the ball lay barely out of his reach. Shortstop Julio Franco, who was closest to the play, was so incapacitated with laughter that he was unable to help.

The Psalmist speaks of how remembering what God has done for us can bring laughter and joy to our lives like nothing in this world. Today is a good time to laugh with the joy of God and to remember all the great things God has done for us! In Psalm 126, the people were remembering that God had brought them back to Israel from their captivity in Babylon. It was a dream come true and God had made it happen. In the middle of the happiest times of our lives, the blessings of God can be found. Laugh with his joy, remember his goodness to us, and thank Him for the blessings of life that make us laugh with joy.

  1. When is the last time you enjoyed a hearty laugh?

  2. How can you feel the joy of God?

  3. Thank Him for all His blessings.

The next time you enjoy a great laugh, thank God for the blessing of His joy! LAUGH!

:-) Wonderful story. An old tradion of christian faith is to tell jokes at eastern, because Jesus is risen and the death can't laugh anymore.
