May 27-Plans
May 27: Plans
Scripture Lesson: Proverbs 19:21
On this date in 2008, Jamie Carroll of the Indians was caught off
first base by White Sox pitcher Ehren Wasserman’s fake throw to third. While
Carroll was caught in a rundown, David Dellucci, the runner on third, broke for
home and scored ahead of first baseman Paul Konerko’s throw to the plate. That
allowed Carroll to reach second base and Grady Sizemore, who had been on
second, to reach third base. Chuck Murr, official scorer of the Indians,
credited all three runners with stolen bases, making it the first triple steal
since 1987. I am quite sure that is not how the Indians planned to score that
run.
The writer of Proverbs reminds us that man may have many plans, but
the purpose of God that prevails. We can make all the plans we want to about
our life, where we will go, and how we will live. Unless we consult God and
live out His plan, our lives will not be as successful or fruitful. We have
ideas of what we want to do with our lives. We want to make all the decisions.
God has a plan for each of us to live happy and productive lives for Him. We
have to be willing to not only seek His plan for our lives, but be willing to
follow His plan for us no matter where his plan leads us.
-
Have you
consulted God about His plan for your life?
-
What
does God want you to do?
-
Why is
it so vital for us to seek and follow God’s plan for our lives?
Don’t make the mistake of planning your own life. Allow God to show
you His plan and be willing to follow His plan. That is the formula for a happy
and productive life.
