Scripture Lesson: 1 Kings 18:18-21

On this date in 1975, the most lopsided vote in National League MVP history occurs when Joe Morgan of the Cincinnati Reds (.327 17HR’s and 94RBi’s) is overwhelmingly elected MVP. Morgan had a league high on base percentage of .417 and stole 67 bases with 132 walks.

Our Scripture lesson today is about the contest between the prophets of Baal and Elijah on Mt. Carmel. It is time for the people of Israel to choose once and for all, are they going to follow Baal or God. When God answers Elijah’s prayer and he wins the contest, the people choose to follow God. They kill the prophets of Baal and turn once again to completely follow and worship the one true God.

1.      Who are we choosing to follow with the way we live our lives?
2.      Are we sold out completely to living for and following God?
3.      What will our lives look like when we choose God?

The world does not need Christians who are trying to live by the world’s standards and God’s standards at the same time. The time is here for each of us to choose….who will we follow with the way we live our lives?
