Scripture Lesson: Isaiah 40:9-11

On this date in 1960 Roger Maris nips teammate Mickey Mantle for the American League MVP Award 225-222, the second closest vote ever. The closest vote was the American League MVP in 1948 where Joe Dimaggio defeated Ted Williams by 1 vote. That was some close vote!

In our Scripture lesson today, the prophet Isaiah reminds us of God’s great care for us. He uses the analogy of a shepherd. God cares for his people like a shepherd cares for his flock. He gathers the sheep in his arms and holds them close to his heart as he leads them along the way. What a great picture of God holding us close to Him and leading us through life!

1.      Imagine yourself right now close to God’s heart…can you feel His love and care?
2.      How can we be ready for God to lead us through life.
3.      Take a moment right now and thank God for His loving care for us!

We are so blessed to be love like God loves us! Let’s show Him our love today by following Him in loving devotion.
