Scripture Lesson: 1Thessalonians 3:6-10

Today is the birthday of two former Detroit Tiger teammates, catcher Bill Freehan and 2b Dick McAuliffe both of whom played in the very first Major League baseball game I ever saw on June 9, 1964. The Tigers defeated the visiting Minnesota Twins 16-1. The pitchers that day were Jim Kaat for the Twins and Denny McLain for the Tigers. I will never forget the great memories of that day!

Paul is writing to the Thessalonians commenting on the good report Timothy has brought back about them. The Church there had great memories of Paul and what he did for them while he was there. Paul’s memories of them were also great and he is encouraged by the way they are living their lives for Christ. My prayer for each of us today is that we are building spiritual memories with God, living for Him and serving Him each day.

1.      What are some of your fondest memories?
2.      What are some of your fondest spiritual memories?
3.      How can we be assured of building great memories with God?

May this day and every day we go about building great memories living for and serving our wonderful Heavenly Father.
