Scripture Lesson: Ephesians 5:15-16

On this date in 1993 thanks to Joe Carter’s ninth inning three run home run, the Toronto Blue Jays defeat the Philadelphia Phillies 8-6 giving the Blue Jays their second consecutive World Championship. The Toronto outfielder becomes just the second player in baseball history to end the World Series with a walk-off home run, joining Pittsburgh Pirate Bill Mazeroski, who homered to defeat the New York Yankees in the 1960 Series. Both Carter and Mazeroski had the opportunity to win the Series and they came through!

Paul urges us in our Scripture lesson today to be careful how we live our lives and to make the most of every opportunity given to us. Paul wants us to see that how we live each day is important because when we are living for God, we will have opportunities to do great things for His Kingdom. We need to make the most of each and every day because the world is full of evil, needing the love of God shown. God has great plans for each of us to live for Him and to serve Him in our daily lives.

1. Why is it important to live for Christ daily?
2. When we live for Christ what kind of opportunities may come our way to serve Him?
3. How often do we take advantage of the opportunities God gives us to serve Him?

When we are serious about living for God, He is serious about giving us opportunities daily to serve Him and make a difference for His Kingdom!
