FCA Baseball National Director
David Daly has been on staff with FCA since April 2002. He was the Area Director for Northwest North Carolina until January 2009 when he became the National Director of Baseball Ministries. Prior to joining FCA, Daly was a pastor in North Carolina serving churches for 25 years.
David has served as the Chaplain for the University of North Carolina Baseball Team as well as the Chaplain for the Class A Hickory Crawdads of the South Atlantic League. Knowing the game and the culture of baseball has enabled David to minister to players and coaches alike. “ Our mission in FCA Baseball is to plain and simple reach the baseball community for Jesus Christ. We will continue to develop resources that will help our national FCA staff better minister to and serve the baseball community in their local area. To date over 14,000 FCA Baseball New Testaments have been distributed with plans in process for the Spanish Edition of the FCA Baseball New Testament and the second edition of the English version. We are committed to touching every area of the game from the youngest tee ball player through the elite Major League player. We are blessed by a great Leadership Team that loves the Lord and the game. I can’t wait to see what God has in store for His ministry to the baseball community through FCA Baseball.”
David has been married to his wife Claudia since June 11, 1977. They have been blessed by their daughter Laura and son-in-law Justin Garland and their son John.

As a former professional soccer goalie, Cal Kern has always had a passion for athletics. He also has a long history with Fellowship of Christian Athletes. In 1993, he stumbled upon the unique dynamics of the organization at a ministry fair in Dallas. Shortly thereafter, he began an eight year staff position. After a several year hiatus to become involved with Christian radio, he came back to FCA as the sport-specific baseball ministry chair in 2007. Now, he focuses on his hometown region of Buffalo/Niagara Falls, New York as the general manager of the Niagara Power, an FCA affiliated travelling baseball team that gives collegiate baseball players an opportunity to hone their game and their faith.
As a two-time All-American who landed the 5th overall pick in his professional soccer draft, Kern knows something about putting it all out on the field. He also is no stranger to the attribute of perseverance. A shattered kneecap ended his professional soccer career and Olympic tryout hopes shortly after he started, but Kern has shifted his energy to use earlier athletic experiences from the sport of baseball. He thrives on sharing his Christian walk with his players while highlighting the faithfulness of God and the importance of walking the talk.
“I think living like Christ is the best thing. You need to be His ambassador, His billboard, and display a Christ-like attitude— not just with words, but with actions.”
Kern’s current ministry work includes reaching out to those who are a part of the Niagara Power baseball team and ministering to area college FCA Huddles. His wife and best friend of 35 years, Sherrie, serves as an FCA Administrator for the Power. They have two children, Leanne and Brett, who have given them four beautiful grandchildren!
Whatever you do, do it enthusiastically, as something done for the Lord and not for men. (– Colossians 3:23 HCSB)
