Coaches Corner Summer 2013 Sometimes life throws us a curveball when we were looking for a fastball. Curveballs can throw a hitter’s timing off in the game and in life curveballs can throw us for a loop. I had a couple of curves thrown my way this weekend.

As the season wears on, it becomes more and more difficult to stay positive. The initial elation of many players begins to fade. It becomes easier to see your teammates flaws; both in play, and in actions.

Sixty Six years ago Jackie Robinson broke the color barrier in baseball by playing in his first game as a Brooklyn Dodger. In honor of Jackie Robinson’s courage and life all Major League baseball players wore the number 42, Robinson’s old number.
Can’t you feel the excitement in the air as a new Baseball Season is approaching? For some of you practice has already begun and for others the first official practice is right around the corner. It is almost time to hear two of the greatest words in the English language, “Play Ball”!

March 4-Friendship Scripture Lesson: Proverbs 18:24 On this date in 1984 the Special Veterans’ Committee elects Pee Wee Reese to the Hall of Fame. Reese was known as an outstanding defensive player and the captain of the great Brooklyn Dodger teams of the 1940’s and 50’s. His friendship with Jackie Robinson helped Robinson’s acceptance in baseball.
