February 8-Being a Leader
Scripture Lesson: Joshua 1:6-9
On this date in 1956, 93 year old Connie Mack dies. Mack was one of the founders of the American League and the founder of the Philadelphia A’s franchise in 1905. In his 50 years with the A’s, Mack won 9 pennants and 5 World Championships. He also finished last 17 times while winning 3,731 games and losing 3,948 games. A true leader and a true gentlemen, mack always wore a suit and tie as he managed.
In today’s Scripture lesson, the children of Israel are preparing to cross the Jordan River and begin the conquest of the Promised Land. Moses has died and now Joshua is leading the people. God gives Joshua a pep talk at the beginning of his ministry as a leader. God reminds Joshua of His presence with him. Joshua is to be strong and courageous, obeying God always by knowing His Word and doing His Word! When God calls us he is always with us to equip us to do His work. A good leader always follows God’s Word and always obeys Him. We can be assured of His presence as Joshua when we serve Him by leading others.
1. How can we be a leader in baseball?
2. Why is it important to know and obey God’s Word?
3. How do we know God will be with us?
Be ready for the challenge of leadership God has in store for you by knowing and obeying His Word.
