March 19: Using Your Talents for God

Scripture Lesson: Matthew 25:14-28

Today is the birthday of Los Angeles Dodger ace, Clayton Kershaw. Not only is Kershaw one of the best pitchers in the big leagues, he considers the talent he has to be God-given, to be used for God’s glory. “It’s for His glory,” Kershaw says, “to make people aware that it’s not something where I was just lucky to be able to throw a baseball. He doesn’t want us to hide our talents. He wants us to put them in the spotlight and glorify Him. That’s a pretty cool thing” (STV, May 2011).

God has given to each of us a talent. Whatever that talent is, we are to use it for God’s glory. The “talents” Jesus talked about in today’s scripture referred to a certain weight of silver or gold rather than “talents” in the English sense, but lesson still applies. When we use our talent for Him, we are given more talents to use. However, when we neglect to use what God has entrusted to us, we are cursed. None of us wants to be cursed. Let’s get busy and use what God has given to use to glorify Him!

  1. How has God gifted you talent-wise to serve Him?

  2. How can you use your talent to glorify Him?

  3. Thank God for your talents and ask Him to help you to use it to glorify Him.

What a difference we could make for God every day when we use our talents for His glory! Why not start or continue today?

Me thinks lltite Sandi needs to take some grand old advice from a quote she used I think somewhere, sometime in her life before! “…the greatest joy in God comes from giving his gifts away, not in hoarding them for ourselves. It is good to work and have. It is better to work and have in order to give. God’s glory shines more brightly when he satisfies us in times of loss than when he provides for us in times of plenty. The health, wealth, and prosperity “gospel” swallows up the beauty of Christ in the beauty of his gifts and turns the gifts into idols. The world is not impressed when Christians get rich and say thanks to God. They are impressed when God is so satisfying that we give our riches away for Christ’s sake and count it gain.”SHARE YOUR PAINTINGS!!!!!! They are from God! LOL.Love ya girl!
