Scripture Lesson: Matthew 3:13-17

On this date in 1960 Red Sox outfielder Ted Williams homers off Washington Senators right hander Don Lee. At the beginning of his career, Williams hit several home runs off Lee’s Dad, Thornton.

Today’s Scripture lesson is about the baptism of Jesus. John felt unworthy to baptize Jesus, but went ahead to do so. As soon as Jesus came up out of the water, the Spirit of God descended on Him like a dove, lighting on Him. God’s voice came down from heaven and said, “This is my Son whom I love; with Him I am well pleased.” For God so love the world, He sent His Son to save the world from its sin. Jesus so loved the world he went to the cross and died for you and for me. Like Father, like Son!

1. How did God show His live for the world?

2. How did Jesus show His love for the world?

3. How should we show our love for the Father and His Son?

Thank God today for loving us that much and thank His Son for the same kind of love!
